Château de Clairvaux
Clairvaux Castle was built around 1480 by Renaud Chabot and his descendants, making it one of the first buildings in Poitou from the transition period between the end of the Gothic and the beginning of the Renaissance. Surrounded by large moats of white water and an enclosure made by René de Villequier at the end of the 1704th century, it is completed by a forecourt and an entrance gate built in the first half of the 1770th century by Jacques and by his son Cézar d'Aumont. Bought by the Montbrons in XNUMX, it had a central body around XNUMX.
Classified as a Historic Monument in 1929, it has been restored since 1964 by the family of the current owners who opened it to visitors in 1990 by exhibiting a large collection of chess sets.
