Église Sainte-Croix d'Angles-sur-l'Anglin
The abbey was founded in 1040 by the Bishop of Poitiers Isembert I, Lord of Angles. In 1088, Hugh VI of Lusignan installed Benedictine monks from the Abbey of Saint-Cyprien in Poitiers, but Pope Urban II entrusted the abbey to regular canons of the Order of Saint-Augustin. The abbey church was built from 1175 and consecrated in 1192. The facade of the church has retained its beautiful Gothic portal with a pointed arch, framed by two blind arcades.
