Situated between the valleys of the Creuse and Gartempe rivers, on the borders of the Poitou, Touraine and Berry regions, the municipality of d'Angles-sur-l'Anglin has been listed as one of the "Most Beautiful Villages in France" since 1982, and is the only one in the Vienne département (86).
Le medieval village was built on a rocky spur between the river and the plateau. While the houses and streets of the town are picturesquely intertwined in the upper town, the fortress dominates the lower town.
